How to show the ask price on MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 charts

By default, MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 terminal charts only show the bid price but it is also possible to configure the ask price to be shown.

By default, MT4/MT5 charts show the bid price only.

To display the ask price on your trading terminal, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the chart and select "Properties"
  2. In the "Properties" window, click the "Common" tab
    Tick Show Ask line and then click OK.

Buy orders are opened at the ask price. Sell orders are also closed at the ask price.

  • A buy order is opened at the ask price and closed at the bid price.
  • A sell order is opened at the bid price and closed at the ask price.

Note that Buy Stop, Buy Limit, Take Profit, and Stop-Loss orders are also triggered at the ask price.
